Washington Indiana Sparkles as newest CLEAN community

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The City of Washington is ringing in 2010 with a new designation. Washington is the Indiana Department of Environmental Management's (IDEM's) newest "CLEAN" community.

IDEM Commissioner Thomas Easterly presented a plaque and commemorative road sign to Mayor Larry Haag to officially induct Washington into the CLEAN (Comprehensive Local Environmental Action Network) Community Challenge at the Washington Mayor's Office today.

Friday’s Bikers Burned Calories, Not Fuel

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Staff from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) joined hundreds of other bikers commuting to work last Friday to showcase alternative ways of getting to work.

“Riding a bike can be a healthy and safe way to get to work,” said IDEM Commissioner Thomas Easterly. “More and more employers are doing their part to help accommodate the needs of bike riders.”

IDEM staff use pedal power on Bike to Work day

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Staff from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management will be parking their cars and hopping on their bicycles to join other state agencies and businesses during annual bike to work day, a day set aside to increase awareness of bike riding as an alternative means of transportation.

"We want to draw attention to other ways to get to work other than driving personal vehicles," said IDEM Commissioner Thomas Easterly. "Riding a bike can be a healthy and safe way to get to work and run other errands."

IDEM, Marsh Pharmacies to Collect Unwanted Medicine

 

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - This March, Marsh Pharmacies and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) are offering Hoosiers an opportunity to dispose of outdated or unwanted medications in a safe and environmentally-friendly manner. 

Marsh Pharmacies will accept the unwanted pharmaceuticals from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 15. Items that will be accepted include:
