Hamilton South Eastern High School hosted the 1st
Annual Pizza Hut Invitation Saturday introducing a new format to the Indiana
high school diving community. The field of  girls and boys  from across the
state featured many of the state’s top 20 ranked divers.

State Police Increase Patrols over Holidays

 

PENDLETON, IN - The Indiana State Police would like to remind all motorists to do their part in making our highways safe during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.  In 2007 there were nine fatalities over the Christmas holiday period.  There were seven fatalities over the New Year period last year. 

The Christmas counting period this year is from 6 p.m. December 24 to 6 a.m. December 29. The New Years period is from 6 p.m. December 31 to 6 a.m. January 5, 2009.

Pendleton License Opens in New Downtown Location

Renovated retail space on Pendleton Street home to new branch

PENDLETON, IN - Ron Stiver,
Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), today
officially opened the new Pendleton License Branch at 129 South
Pendleton Avenue in the historic downtown area. The branch has
relocated from 753 East Water Street.

Indiana State Police Offer Farm Harvest Safety Tips

 

PENDLETON, IN - The Indiana State Police want to caution drivers that farmers will be harvesting their crops for the next several weeks. During this time there will be large farm equipment traveling on the roads that may impede traffic.  

 

Drivers are reminded to be ever cautious when approaching a hillcrest or curve. Farm implements need additional roadway space so drivers should be prepared to slow down. Darkness also creates a hazardous situation for motorists when approaching slow moving farm equipment.

Five Troopers Transfer to Pendleton Post

PENDLETON, IN -  Lt. Clint Bundy, Commander of the Pendleton Post, has announced that five Indiana State Troopers have transferred to the Pendleton Post from Indiana State Police Posts around Indiana.  Lt Bundy stated, “These five troopers are welcome additions to the manpower at the post.”

State Police Arrest Two for Vehicle Theft near Pendleton

PENDLETON, IN -  Today at 7:30 a.m., Indiana State Police Sergeant Raymond Poole stopped to check on a disabled vehicle on Interstate 69 near the Pendleton Exit.  The occupants of the vehicle advised Sergeant Poole they were having engine problems. 

A check of their license plate revealed that the vehicle had been stolen out of the Indianapolis area sometime last night. The vehicle reported stolen was a 1994 Ford.

Two Charged with Trafficking in Separate Incidents

PENDLETON, IN -  Indiana State Police Troopers arrested two suspects for trafficking
with an inmate at the Pendleton prison this weekend.  On Saturday,
August 16, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Indiana State Trooper Andrew
Sparks was dispatched to the Pendleton Correctional Facility and arrested
Stephanie Lewis, 39, Indianapolis, for trafficking with an inmate.

Operation Weatherization at Madison County United Way

ANDERSON, IN - The United
Way of Madison County and JobSource are seeking volunteers and
corporate sponsors for the 2nd Annual OPERATION Weatherization on
Saturday, November 1st.

 

Volunteers
will work in teams at pre-selected energy inefficient homes, in
Anderson, Alexandria and Pendleton, completing simple weatherization
tasks such as caulking, weather-stripping, plastic-wrapping windows,
changing furnace filters and lightbulbs to CFLs.

Highway 38 Sale (Noblesville to New Castle) Begins May 2

MADISON COUNTY, IN - The Highway 38 Sale goes from Noblesville to New Castle on State Road 38. Not only are there hundreds of roadside rummages, but many stores along the route open for sales. It takes place May 2-4.

In Pendleton, vendors also line the downtown area. If you'd like to get a booth, call Jessica Greene at 778-9898.

Down the road is the big sale at the Markleville Community Park. It averages about 40 vendors.
