Hoosier Troops Trade Weapons for Family Time

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Over an ocean and above the woods more than 320 Hoosier troops with the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team arrived at the Indianapolis International Airport on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008. After clearance through customs and turning in what Soldiers call sensitive items - weapons and night vision goggles - to military policemen, it was onto Stout Field to visit friends and family for an hour.

384th Military Police Company Scheduled for Deployment to Iraq

 

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indiana’s Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger, received notification that the 384th Military Police Company, headquartered in Bloomington, Ind., is scheduled to mobilize in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in January 2009. The 170-person unit has not received a specific mission or potential duty location in the southwestern Asian country, but will head to Fort Dix, N.J., when first mobilized.

Hoosier Guardsmen Deal with “Ike” in Northwest Indiana

      By Sunday afternoon, September 14, the remnants of Hurricane Ike had dumped more than 10 inches of rain on northwestern Indiana which caused lakes and tributaries from Lake Michigan to swell beyond capacity. As a result, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security called the Indiana National Guard.

Indiana National Guard Activated to Help with Flood Relief

 

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana National Guard is activating troops in northern Indiana's Lake County to support evacuation and flood relief operations. Approximately 40 Soldiers reported to the Gary National Guard Armory at 2:30 p.m. today to assist the Indiana Department of Homeland Security with the evacuation of up to 8,000 residents in Munster, Ind.

Additional Soldiers reported directly to Munster and are assisting with the safe evacuation of residents and safeguarding of property.
