INDOT presents $3.5 million check to Michigan City

This morning's ceremony part of U.S. 35 relinquishment agreement

MICHIGAN CITY, IN - The U.S. 35 (Michigan Boulevard) road transfer agreement was made official between the city of Michigan City and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) in a ceremony this morning at City Hall.

The relinquishment agreement provides the city will officially assume responsibility for the road between State Road 212 (S.R. 212) and U.S. 12 on Oct. 1, 2009. Until then, INDOT will maintain normal snow and maintenance operations.

Accelerate 465 Southbound Traffic Shifts Thursday

Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractors plan to shift I-465 southbound between I-65 and I-74 toward the center median into three new lanes.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN  - Westside motorists should stay alert for new Accelerate 465 traffic patterns that take effect before the morning rush hour on Wednesday, October 22. For the first time, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will open four through lanes for I-465 northbound between I-74 and I-65.

Weekend I-465 ramp closure planned at Allisonville Road

INDOT to patch and resurface deteriorating pavement

INDIANAPOLIS, IN  - Pavement patching and resurfacing is closing the Allisonville Road westbound ramp to I-465 over the next two weekends. Depending on the condition of underlying concrete, the ramp closure may only be required for one weekend.

Work begins at 10 p.m. Friday, October 17 when contractors start to mill off the existing pavement. If the underlying concrete is in good shape, crews can lay new asphalt. The ramps reopen no later than 5 a.m. Monday.

U.S. 231 Resurface Construction Complete

Restrictions have been lifted

JASPER COUNTY, IN - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the completion of the resurface construction project on U.S. 231 between State Road 14 (S.R. 14) and County Road 600N in Jasper County.

Construction started in August. The improved roadway will enhance motorist safety and mobility. U.S. 231 is open to unrestricted traffic excluding any changes after final inspection.

U.S. 421 ramps at I-94 opening as construction moves into next phase

 

Eastbound I-94 traffic configuration to switch first

 

LAPORTE and PORTER COUNTY, IN - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the I-94 Major Moves Preservation resurface construction project between State Road 49 (S.R. 49) and U.S. 421 is moving into its next phase.

Today, the traffic configuration on eastbound I-94 is being switched to travel on newly constructed right and center lanes. This will allow the ramp from eastbound I-94 to southbound U.S. 421 to reopen.

Ramps at I-80/94 and Kennedy Ave. Reopen

 

LAKE COUNTY, IN - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the ramps at I-80/94 and Kennedy Avenue have reopened to traffic. INDOT crews worked with the crews from the City of Hammond to remove debris from Kennedy Ave. to reopen the road for north-south traffic. 

INDOT crews worked throughout the day to remove the pumps, pipes and remaining debris from the ramps to safely reopen all ramps to and from I-80/94 to traffic.

I-80/94 Lanes Restricted During Major Moves Resurface Construction

 

Restrictions scheduled for Monday through November

 

LAKE COUNTY, IN -  The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces I-80/94 between Central Avenue and I-90 (the Indiana Toll Road) will be restricted to two lanes in each direction Sept. 22 through November 2008. This will allow construction to progress on the $2.7 million Major Moves Preservation resurface construction project scheduled for completion in November 2008.
