Mullen Credits Bush, Obama for ‘Smooth’ Transition

WASHINGTON, DC – The transition from the Bush administration to that of President-elect Barack Obama has been remarkably smooth, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said. In an interview today, Navy Adm. Mike Mullen credited the tone that President George W. Bush and Obama set for the ease, so far, of the transition.

President Bush Proclaims Sept. 28 Gold Star Mother's Day

WASHINGTON, DC - Sept. 25, 2008 – President Bush has proclaimed Sept. 28 as Gold Star Mother's Day this year. The day honors the mothers of men and women who were killed in the line of duty while serving the nation in the armed forces.

Congress designated the last Sunday in September as "Gold Star Mother's Day" in 1936, authorizing and requesting the president to issue a proclamation in its observance each year.

Bush: Situation In Iraq Has Changed Substantially

President Bush Set to Tour Hurricane Ike Devastation in Texas

"This is a tough storm, and it's one that is going to require time for people to recover," Bush said during a White House briefing today.

Iraqi President Praises Bush as Liberator of Iraq

Bush is a hero who saved Iraq “from the worst kind of dictatorship” under Saddam Hussein, President Jalal Talabani said.
