City of Anderson to Enforce False Alarm Ordinance

ANDERSON, IN – Beginning January 1, 2010, the City of Anderson will join a host of communities who already enforce nuisance alarms. 

“False alarms have become an enormous concern for law enforcement agencies everywhere.  Millions of dollars and man-hours are spent chasing "burglars" which turn out to be nothing more than floating birthday balloons, unrestricted pets, or paper falling from a fax machine, “said Chief of Police Darron Sparks.

Late Morning Crash on I-69 Results in Fire

AUBURN, IN - A two vehicle crash on northbound I-69 near the 127 mile marker closed both northbound lanes and one southbound lane of traffic late this morning as a result of a two vehicle crash which resulted in one of the vehicles becoming fully engulfed in fire.

Two Vehicle Crash on I-69 in Dekalb County Sends Three to Hospital

AUBURN, IN - The Indiana State Police is investigating a two vehicle crash that occurred on I-69, northbound, at the exit ramp to County Road 11-A (exit 126) this afternoon which sent three people to a local hospital.

16 Year Old Driver Ejected from Vehicle in Adams County Crash

ADAMS COUNTY, IN - The Indiana State Police responded to a report of a single vehicle personal injury crash, at approximately 6:42 pm this evening, which sent the 16 year old driver to the hospital with reported head trauma because she had been ejected from her vehicle.

Smokey Bear's Birthday Bash Coming Soon

HUNTINGTON, IN - Every bear has his day, or is that every dog? Either way, join your old friend Smokey Bear to celebrate during his 60th birthday at J. Edward Roush Lake - Kilsoquah State Recreation Area, May 23 & 24.

On May 23, festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. Gather at the Kilsoquah SRA program shelter to hang birthday decorations. From 5-6 p.m. the Huntington Fire Department will teach safety techniques on how to find your way out of a smoke-filled home.

No Criminal Charges Will be Filed in Fatal School Bus Crash

LOGANSPORT, IN – On September 26, 2008, officers from the Indiana State Police responded to a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 24 east of County Road 800 West that killed four elementary school children. The students were traveling in a Twin Lakes School Corporation bus. All four were elementary students from the Twin Lakes School Corporation. The bus was returning to Monticello from Logansport, IN.  The four children were all special needs students who attended different elementary schools in Logansport that catered to their special needs.

Pence Announces Open Application Period for Firefighter Grants

Indiana Fire Departments Benefit from Timber Sales

 

INDIANA - Nostalgia may be fine for some things, but Faron Livingston has few fond memories of the backpack-style water cans that firefighters used to have to lug around to battle brush and forest fires.

"The straps were nylon, like the kind you'd see on old lawn chairs," said Livingston, chief of the Bloomington Township Fire Department. "The clasps were adjustable, but they didn't adjust."

The result was a cumbersome, one-size-fits-all apparatus that weighed 58 pounds when fully loaded with water.
