Breakfast With Santa Tradition Continues for Highland High School Music Fundraising

ANDERSON, IN - Highland High School Choral Boosters and Choir members are seeking community support for the 3rd annual "Breakfast with Santa" event to be held on Saturday December 6th, 2008 from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. As last year, the event will be held at Madison Park Church of God, 67th and Columbus Ave.

Children and Teens needed to perform in Best Christmas Pageant Ever

ANDERSON, IN - Kidz Take the Stage (KTS) Performing Arts Studio is in need of children and teens to fill parts in their upcoming production "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." 

A few boy character roles are still available for boys between the ages of 5 and 18.  Cost for these character parts is $90.

Brian McLaren visits AU during Spiritual Emphasis Week

ANDERSON, IN - Anderson University will welcome Brian McLaren to the campus for Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW), October 21-23. McLaren is an author, speaker, pastor, and networker among innovative Christian leaders, thinkers, and activists. He is a frequent guest on television, radio, and news media programs. The Anderson University office of Spiritual Life and Counseling Services sponsors SEW once each year to offer students and the community an opportunity for worship and study with an off-campus speaker.

Fall Harvest Celebration at J. Edward Roush Lake

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, IN - Autumn fun will be available on Oct. 25 for all ages at J. Edward Roush Lake, at the Little Turtle Recreation Area's main shelter house from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Several games and activities kick off the evening. A pumpkin decorating contest will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m.; pumpkins will be provided, but bring your own carving tools. Contest judging will be at 6:45 p.m. and prizes will be awarded at 7:15 p.m.
Enjoy friends and fellowship at the hot dog roast from 6 to 8 p.m. Hot dogs and drink provided.

Anderson Speedway: Night of Thrills

ANDERSON, IN - Anderson Speedway delivered on it's self entitled "Night of Thrills" Saturday night, with a pulse raising set of events that left many folks on the edge of their shakey wooden bleacher seating for a large course of the evening.

Events like the Outlaw figure 8's, corkscrew, and school bus figure 8's for both men and women, served to thrill the packed house.

Scarecrow Weekend at Spring Mill State Park

 

Scarecrow Weekend is coming to Spring Mill State Park, Oct. 11-12.

LAWRENCE COUNTY, IN - Creepy crafts and eerie activities will offer plenty of fun during the daylight hours. Visitors are also encouraged to dress up in their favorite costume and join in the 4:30 p.m. costume parade through the campground. Costumed canines, on a leash, are also welcome. Parade participants should bring a bag of candy with them to pass out to spectators.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - This October, in celebration of Family History Month and American Archives Month, the Indiana State Library is hosting several family history-related events and activities. The State Library and Indiana State Archives will offer several FREE programs on a variety of family history topics, all dedicated to researching family history and exploring Indiana's cultural heritage.

Family Owned Pizza Cafe Growing

ANDERSON, IN - Tommy J's Pizza Cafe, which opened on December 7, 2007, is planning to expand this summer according to Ben T. Jewell, one of the owners.

The restaurant, located on 1000 W. 3rd, has started work on an outdoor eating area in front of the restaurant. Business has been good so far according to Jewell, who runs the pizza cafe with his brother, Terry Poole, and father, Tom Jewell.

They're expecting to get their liquor license any day now and plan to offer beer and wine with lunch or dinner.
