Lowering the U.S. Flag in Observance of Fallen Firefighters / Fire Prevention Week Oct 5th - 11th

Did you know that the law requires the U.S. flag be lowered in
tribute on only a few days each year? Quite appropriately, one of these
days is the observance of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial
Service.

 

On October 16, 2001, President George W. Bush approved legislation
requiring the U.S. flag to be lowered to half-staff on all Federal
buildings to memorialize fallen firefighters. Public Law 107-51
requires this action to occur annually in conjunction with observance
of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.

Mary Beth Dunnichay Has Breakfast with Mitch Daniels

ELWOOD, IN - Mary Beth Dunnichay, who took 5th place in synchronized diving at the
2008 Olympics, spent some time talking about her diving with Governor
Mitch Daniels at the Lincoln Square Restaurant in Elwood on Saturday, August 30th, 2008.

Also in attendance at the breakfast were Mary Beth's parents and Elwood Mayor Merrill
Taylor.

State Police Arrest Elwood Police Officer

PENDLETON, IN -  Detective Keith O'Donnell arrested Shaun Andy Murray, 28, Anderson
on today’s date for theft from the Elwood Police Department evidence
room.  He is alleged to have taken opiates (pain-killers) from
the evidence room for his personal use.  Murray is an Elwood Police
Officer and their evidence room technician.
