New e-Service allows near real-time chemical reporting

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - When natural disasters strike, fire departments and businesses must work quickly together to safely manage stored chemicals and protect the public. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) has a new online reporting tool that makes it easier for businesses to update facility information and provide real-time information to responders who need it.

Mayor McShurley announces Muncie Sanitary District Board Appointment

 

MUNCIE, IN - Mayor Sharon McShurley announced today that Tom L. Bennington will be her first appointment to the Muncie Sanitary District Board of Commissioners.  Bennington, a 20 year Navy veteran and a 21 year administrator of public utilities, was recently defeated in his reelection bid for the office of Delaware County Commissioner and leaves that post at the end of the year.

Plotner Charged with Four Felony Counts

 

KOKOMO, IN -  Recently, a criminal investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Mike Tarrh resulted in the arrest of Daniel Edward Plotner, 33, Greentown, IN.  Howard County Sheriff’s Deputies served Plotner with a Howard Superior Court II arrest warrant charging him with four class D felony counts of theft; receiving stolen property. The warrant was served to Plotner at the Howard County Jail where he is currently being held with no bond.

Public Justice Sues IHSAA, Monroe County School Corp. for Barring Female Athlete

 

MONROE COUNTY, IN - Public Justice and its cooperating counsel filed a federal lawsuit against the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and the Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) late Friday, charging them with discrimination against a 14-year-old student athlete at Bloomington High School South on account of her gender.

GARY, IN - A ceremony was held here at the Indiana National Guard’s new Limited Army Aviation Support Facility dedicating its completion Friday, October 24, 2008. Indiana’s Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger, Gov. Mitch Daniels, U.S. Senator Evan Bayh, Indiana Congressman Pete Visclosky and Gary’s mayor, Rudy Clay, were among the many distinguished guests to attend the event.

Provision Permits Tax-free Charitable Transfers from IRAs

MUNCIE, IN - As part of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a two-year extension of Charitable IRA legislation, making it easier for Americans to give to causes they care about. The Charitable IRA provision, first enacted for 2006 and 2007, has the power to help local charities weather the current economic crisis. The extension goes through 2009.
