Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility Charges filed by Prosecutor

PENDLETON, IN - Madison County Prosecutor Thomas Broderick, Jr., filed formal criminal charges today against 4 public servants for the alleged misconduct with an offender incarcerated at the Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility. Prosecutor Broderick stated that the Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility is operated by the Indiana Department of Correction and houses an average daily population of 300 offenders.

Prayer and contemplation for Haiti at Anderson City Hall

ANDERSON, IN - Local minister Joe Arena is organizing an event for next Thursday, January 28, at noon in the City Hall Auditorium.  The event will feature prayer and discussion about ongoing relief operations for Haiti.  About 45 minutes will be spent in guided prayer and contemplation.  The event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.

Home Invasion Leads to Arrest of Local Man

ANDERSON, IN – Just after noon on Thursday, January 21, 2010, Anderson Police were called to 512 Marine Drive to investigate an attempted robbery.  According to 50-year-old Jeff Kemerly, he answered a knock at the door only to be met by a gun being shoved in his face.  Kemerly and the gunman struggled briefly over the handgun before the gunman gained control and struck Kemerly in the head with the weapon.

Noblesville Schools Earn the ENERGY STAR

NOBLESVILLE, IN -  Noblesville Middle School has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) prestigious ENERGY STAR award, the national symbol for superior energy efficiency and environmental protection. Noblesville Schools is now distinguished in the top 2% of public school buildings nationwide for energy conservation and the ENERGY STAR certification. Bob Wede, Performance Services, presented the award at the Noblesville school board meeting on Tuesday evening of this week.

INDIANA STATEHOUSE - State Rep. Jack Lutz (R-Anderson) had the following to say after the 2010 Indiana State of the State address by Governor Mitch Daniels on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.

“Gov. Daniels did great in his State of State speech tonight. He touched on the importance of retaining and obtaining jobs in Indiana. He stressed how critical it is that what we are doing today has a lasting impact in the future years to come on the state. During tough economic times, few states are attracting jobs besides Indiana, putting our state in far better condition than our neighbors.

City Seeks Offers for Redevelopment of Downtown Property

ANDERSON, IN - As the City of Anderson’s 2010 budget goes into effect, initiatives funded at reduced levels are striving to adapt to their constraints while continuing to offer effective programming.

The Anderson Business Incubator (ABI), a division of the Flagship Enterprise Center (FEC), will receive $25,000 in funding for 2010, a reduction of $50,000 from 2009 funding levels. Currently housing five clients, the ABI is located at 700 Meridian Street in downtown Anderson.

State Senator Tim Lanane Responds to Indiana State of the State Address

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -State Senator Tim Lanane of Anderson responded to the State of the State address delivered on Tuesday evening by Gov. Mitch Daniels, saying the speech was short on ideas on job creation. Lanane said he was disappointed not to hear any concrete plans to address the state's unemployment, the number one thing on his constituents' minds.

Celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King at Paramount Theater

ANDERSON, IN - On Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 18, 2010 at noon, the Paramount Theater will once again host the Citywide Celebration honoring Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  The theme of the celebration will be “Living the Dream, Preserving the Legacy.” 

Musical selections by Renee Fuller will be featured in the celebration, as well as a reflection on Dr. King by JJJ Performing Arts.  Major Wendy Gray, a native of Anderson currently serving the United States Army as a Family Nurse Practitioner, will be the special guest speaker.

Anderson School Board Chooses Name, Location of High School

ANDERSON, IN - The Anderson Community School Board meeting for January 12, 2010 had a very important item on the agenda, the decision of what building will house Anderson high school students in grades 10-12. The name Anderson High School won, with all but one board member's vote - William Riffe was opposed.
