Suspect Arrested in “Winnie the Pooh” Robbery

CHICAGO, IL - Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was joined today by Jody P. Weis, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and Thomas Dart, Cook County Sheriff, in announcing the arrest of a Chicago man who is believed to be responsible for the armed robbery of three (3) Chicago area banks in the past week.

Help Sought Catching Winnie the Pooh Bandit

CHICAGO, IL - Below is a bank surveillance photo of the individual responsible for the armed robbery Friday afternoon of the Chase Bank branch, located at 1 South Northwest Highway in Park Ridge.

The robber was described as a white/male, 35 - 40 years of age, 6'0 tall, 225 pounds, with a medium build. He was wearing a blue, long sleeve sweatshirt with a "Winnie the Pooh" emblem on the front.

Officials Identify Gulf War Pilot Michael Scott Speicher's Remains

WASHINGTON, DC - Remains found last month in Iraq’s Anbar province are those of Navy Capt. Michael Scott Speicher, who was shot down flying a combat mission in an F/A-18 Hornet on Jan. 17, 1991, and whose fate until now had been uncertain, Defense Department officials reported today.

Acting on information provided by Iraqi civilians, Marines stationed in Anbar province went to a desert location believed to be the crash site of Speicher’s jet, and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology positively identified remains recovered there Speicher’s.

WASHINGTON, DC - Scam artists are trying to profit from the federal government’s new program that helps consumers buy or lease a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle. According to a new consumer alert from the Federal Trade Commission, the nation’s consumer protection agency, people should be on the lookout for so-called “cash for clunker” Web sites that ask for personal information – including name, address, and Social Security number – that they claim is necessary to “register” for the program.
